Job title - Radio Design Engineer

Location: Reading - mostly WFH though required to go to the office once every few weeks, as and when required for team meetings, meeting vendors, etc.
Possibility of international travel on occasion - probably once every 6 months

Contract length: 6 months

Rate: £512pd Umbrella / £350pd PAYE - Inside IR35 

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for a Radio Design Engineer who is well versed in specifications and standards, to work for a leading mass media and telecoms organisation.

The Role:

• To deliver 4G/5G radio design to the internal customers. 
• To assess all the key features in future 3GPP Releases and drive RAN vendors into delivering these
• To assess quarterly Telefonica GCTIO 3GPP standards reports and distill relevant information within the Radio Design team
• To compare and contrast RAN vendor roadmaps and produce clear half yearly reports
• To liaise with the Devices Team and the UE vendors to align company Design and Strategy with the UE roadmap
• To conduct 4G and 5G feature trials including counter/KPI and Drive Test Analysis
• To assist in the O-RAN design and Trial Activities
• To liaise with the Radio Strategy team to run technology trials

 

Key Skills and experience required:

• Requires a full in-depth knowledge and understanding of LTE & 5G NR (NSA & SA) technologies
• Requires an in-depth understanding of 4G/5G (NSA & SA) network architecture and software feature capabilities
• Requires prior experience of managing 4G/5G RAN parameters in the LIVE network
• Requires prior experience of handling SW/HW feature testing/Trialling in the testbed and in the LIVE environments
• Requires advanced level skill for Microsoft applications such as Excel, word and PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau etc.
• Requires prior experience of using Network Performance Analytics tool like Mycom Proptima
• Requires advanced level skills on drive test collection and analysis tools like TEMs, Accuver
• Prior experience of working on Open RAN preferrable  

 

Essential Experience:

• 4G, 5G, LTE and RAN  
• 3GPP standards body
• Well versed in specifications and can navigate easily 
• Looking into Vendors and Roadmaps
• Vendor experience: either Nokia or Ericsson, or both  
• Good presentations Skills: Good standard in the use of Powerpoint and Excel
