Job title: Packing Operative / Despatch Assistant

Contract length: 12 month initial contract - Potential to be extended

 

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Packing Operative on behalf of a global company in the energy industry. This role is an initial 12 month contract to be based at their manufacturing site in Ulverston.

 

The successful Packing Operative will join the business area responsible for providing connectors and bespoke equipment for extraction of oil and gas. The operative will be required to manually pack a range of bespoke and heavy equipment, seal, weigh and record relevant processing data in the relevant SAP/Mendix systems to ensure accurate shipping documentation.

 

Responsibilities:

• Accepts incoming goods and compares them with the shipping document (Material number, description, quantity). 
• Checks incoming goods for visible damage, documents them and provides the information if required. 
• Take care for correct use of transport equipment (hand-guided industrial trucks, forklift, etc.). 
• Captures relevant data in data processing systems. 
• Arranges the acceptance, storage, commissioning and removal of goods in the storage area and records them in the appropriate systems. 
• Organises a regular stock maintenance and inventory in the storage area. 
• Assembles deliveries out of given storage compartments and reviews for completeness and accuracy (e.g. quantity and article number in reference to the respective delivery notes). 
• Completes packaging of deliveries having regard to shipping instructions, common methods of dispatch, types of packaging and other instructions (e.g. Dangerous Goods) in the given framework. 
• Adds the corresponding shipping documents to the outgoing goods. 
• Completes transports inside and if applicable outside the premises with professional usage of appropriate means of transportation.

 

 Key Skills / Experience Required:

• Experience of working within a Logistical/Warehouse/Stores environment in roles such as Packing Operative / Despatch Assistant etc
• Experience in working with large/heavy equipment
• Working knowledge of SAP or Mendix would be advantageous
• Excellent attention to detail
• Working to the highest levels of health and safety
• Ability to demonstrate quality awareness
• Ability to communicate and work effectively in all levels within and outside of the organisation
• Organised and logical approach to work
