Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for VAT Support on behalf of Mars.
This role will support the UK & Irish VAT compliance. The role is responsible to support with the validation of information required for the preparation of VAT returns for Mars UK and Irish VAT registered businesses working as part of a team to ensure VAT returns are complete and correct to strict deadlines for filing with tax authorities. VAT issues identified during the return preparation must be resolved with the business processing function responsible, including supporting future improvements to avoid repetition of errors
Responsibilities:
- Review and validate supporting data in respect of unit VAT returns, including analysis of data around supplier invoices, reviewing VAT reports for discrepancies and in conjunction with the VAT team ensure VAT treatment complies with the legal requirements, as well as follow up on queries to ensure units understand the VAT implications of business transactions and that the VAT element on all transactions is reported correctly in the VAT return.
- Complete VAT error tracking records and ensure business unit training slides are appropriately updated for VAT team business operations training sessions.
- Support with the preparation, submission and settle VAT returns for Mars’ other VAT registered businesses in UK and Ireland.
- Completing reviews over VAT data from Customs imports to ensure VAT reporting of imports is correct.
- Provide training and technical support to outsourced Invoice to Pay Processing team who account for transactions with VAT implications.
Key Skills / Experience Required:
Essential:
- 3 years relevant financial experience
- The job holder will need to be computer literate with excellent Excel skills, have strong analytical and numerical skills, the ability to drive processes and to manage data with strong attention to detail, good communication skills and organisational skills able to prioritise tasks.
- Good bookkeeping knowledge and a good understanding of the functioning of general ledgers are essential.
Desirable:
- Experience of SAP Atlas accounting system and an understanding of VAT and accounts payable would be an advantage however Training will be provided.
