Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for an E&IC Maintenance Lead Engineer on behalf of a global CDMO organization.
Role Purpose:
The E&IC (Electrical & Instrumentation Control) Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, optimization, and reliability of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in a chemical batch manufacturing facility operating under GMP conditions.
This role emphasizes engineering activities, including system design, process optimization, and project management, with a focus on strategic planning and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as production, quality assurance, and process engineering to ensure seamless operations and compliance with GMP standards.
This role will have up to 5 reports and 10 indirect reports.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the design, specification, and optimization of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including PLCs, DCS, and associated instrumentation, to enhance reliability and efficiency in GMP-compliant manufacturing processes.
- Develop and implement engineering solutions for system upgrades, focusing on automation, control strategies, and integration with existing infrastructure.
- Design and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for E&IC systems, ensuring alignment with GMP requirements and minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Utilize SAP PM to optimize maintenance schedules, track system performance, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Provide technical expertise during cross-functional meetings to support process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new technology implementations.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including SOPs, validation protocols, and system specifications, to support regulatory audits (e.g., FDA, EMA).
- Conduct risk assessments for proposed system changes and implement mitigation strategies to ensure safe and compliant operations.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Training in GMP, electrical safety, or hazardous area classifications (e.g., CompEX, NEC).
- Occasional on-call availability or flexible hours to support project deadlines or critical system issues.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, or control systems engineering within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation used in chemical batch manufacturing.
- Proficiency in reading and developing P&IDs, electrical schematics, control system architectures, and engineering design documentation.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
