Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Workshop Technician on behalf of a global CDMO organization.
Role Purpose:
The Workshop Technician is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks to support the operation of equipment and systems in a chemical batch manufacturing facility producing drug substances under GMP conditions.
This role involves working in a workshop environment to service, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with GMP standards. The Workshop Technician collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering, to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment used in chemical batch manufacturing, including pumps, valves, Centrifuges, Dryers and chemical Reactors
- Diagnose equipment issues, disassemble components, repair or replace faulty parts, and reassemble systems to restore functionality
- Support the installation of repaired or new equipment in the manufacturing area, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
- Ensure all workshop activities, including equipment repairs and maintenance, comply with GMP regulations, including proper documentation, cleaning, and sanitization of equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and calibrations in accordance with GMP documentation standards.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering teams to prioritize repair schedules and ensure equipment availability aligns with manufacturing needs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
Key Requirements:
- Certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance (e.g., Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or equivalent).
- 2+ years of experience as a technician in a workshop or maintenance role within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with mechanical repairs and maintenance in an industrial setting.
- Proficiency in using workshop tools and equipment, including lathes, mills, welders, and precision measuring instruments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
